SWANVILLE — Two top young skiers from Waldo County, brothers Lake, 10, and Jett Lindelof, 8, took home more alpine ski racing medals this season with four medals; most recently, three gold and a bronze, after racing at the Plum Creek Timber Classic Alpine Ski Race at Big Squaw Mountain in Greenville Feb. 23.

Both raced slalom and giant slalom courses, with Lake getting two golds, one in each event, and Jett getting a gold in slalom and a bronze in the giant slalom.

They also raced at the Chip Cochrane Invitational Race at Hermon Mountain Jan. 26 and Big Rock Mountain’s Winterfest Race in Mars Hill March 9, with podium standings at both events.

They raced at the Sugarloaf Banked Slalom, a two-day snowboard race-event with two-time gold medal Olympian Seth Wescott March 15 and 16.

The brothers have been skiing for six years, have been part of the Penobscot Valley Alpine Ski Team for three years and train at Hermon Mountain, where they learned to ski.

Besides Alpine ski racing, they enjoy Nordic skiing, ice-skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and are also avid snowboarders and swimmers. They are first-year team members of the Waldo County YMCA Bluefish Swim Team. They completed in four home swim meets, as well as the State Swim Team Championships in Orono, March 1 and 2 this season.

The brothers are third and fourth year students at Cornerspring Montessori School in Belfast.
