Open to the public...all welcome

Lincolnville Sewer District meeting May 23

Posted:  Wednesday, May 17, 2017 - 11:30am

The Trustees of the Lincolnville Sewer District will meet on Tuesday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the LIA Building on Beach Road. All Sewer District meetings are open to the public and all who are interested in the topic are encouraged to attend.

The purpose of the Lincolnville Sewer District, as stated in its charter, is to supply the inhabitants and others within the territory of the district with sewer and water services.

The current project before the group is for sewer services for the most densely concentrated area — 66 properties — surrounding Lincolnville Beach. Federal funds for the project ($3.35 million) have been secured through a combination of grants and a loan.

Recently the Select Board voted unanimously to put a warrant before the voters in June to establish a wastewater capital fund of $25,000 for the upcoming fiscal year. Funds would be accessible to the Lincolnville Sewer District to aid in debt repayment if or as needed. Funds would also be available to other areas of Lincolnville to pursue future wastewater planning and infrastructure.

The trustees encourage, welcome and want all those with vested or other interests to attend a Lincolnville Sewer District meeting, to get involved or to contact a trustee at any point with any questions you may have.
