Lincoln Academy boys slide past Oceanside; Lady Windjammers overpower Lady Mustangs

NEWCASTLE and ROCKPORT — The boys varsity basketball team from Oceanside High School traveled to Newcastle Friday night to take on Lincoln Academy, while the Camden Hills varsity girls squad hosted Thorndike’s Mount View. 

The Mariners fell to Lincoln Academy 51-50 and fall to a record of 9-5 and a ranking of eighth in Eastern Class B, while Lincoln Academy improved 9-5 and fifth in Western Class B. 

The Lady Winjammers improved to 10-4 with its 52-38 victory over the Lady Mustangs and sit in fourth place in Eastern Class B. Meanwhile, the Lady Mustangs fell to a 2-12 record and sit in 17th place. 

Boys Basketball: Lincoln Academy 51, Oceanside 50

At the end of the first quarter, the two squads were knotted at 13 and at the half, Lincoln Academy had a 32-23 advantage. After three, Lincoln Academy was ahead 40-34. 

Scoring for the Eagles were Sawyer Pinkham (17 points), Devin Scherer (10), Brady Leeman (eight), Cody Tozier (seven), Travis Creamer (six), Riley Cushing (two) and Kobe Lincoln (one). 

Scoring for the Mariners were Keenan Hendricks and Nick Mazurek (16 points each), Jarrod Leonardi (seven), Eli Thorbjornson (three) and Riley Sprague, Zach Peaco, Nate Raye and Jimmy Strong (two each). 

Girls Basketball: Camden Hills 52, Mount View 38

At the end of the first quarter, Mount View was up 12-7 and 24-23 at the half, but a strong third quarter push put the Windjammers up 38-30 and eventually, 52-38 for the final score. 

Scoring for the Windjammers were Madelyn Bowman (21 points), Charlotte Messer (12), Mara Dotsie (six), Kira Barley (four), Eliza Boetsch (three) and Kristan Keiran, Hannah Wincklhofer and Rachel Pease (two each).

Scoring for Mount View were  Brooke Tripp (17 points), Halle Reynolds (10), Andrea Crosby (six), Jennifer Nadeau (three) and Megan Elkins (two).
