Lily P. Beckett, obituary

Lily P. Beckett, 90, passed away on February 28, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport.
 
Lily was born in St. George, Maine on January 25, 1928, the daughter of Bjarne Peterson and Ina (Korpinen) Peterson. Lily grew up in St. George and attended local schools.
 
In 1946, she married Virgil Beckett and was married to him for over 50 years until he passed.  Lily was a homemaker but also worked at GTE Sylvania for approximately 30 years. After retiring from Sylvania she often took care of her grandchildren.
 
She was an excellent cook, a perfectionist at her needlework and her cooking. She was a very caring, loving, giving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.
 
Lily loved to go to lawn sales most every Saturday with her son Terrance. She also loved to drive up until the past couple of years. She was a member of the Finn-An Society of South Thomaston. 
 
She will be missed by all who knew her, especially her granddaughter Jennifer who held a special place for her in her grandmothers heart. Lily was always up for a "spirited" game of cribbage with her grandson Ryan.
 
Lily was predeceased by her husband Virgil Beckett, Jr., son Terrance Beckett and brother  Bruno Peterson. Survivors include her son Arnold Beckett and wife Julie of St. George, sisters Dagmar Robbins of Warren, Clara Reed of Friendship, Astrid Weaver of St. George, Ingrid O’Brien  of Martinsville, grandchildren Ryan Beckett of St. George, Shawn Beckett and wife Amy of Thomaston, Jennifer Beckett St. George, Jessica Beckett and fiancé Aaron Simmons of Bremen, great grandchildren  Brent Beckett and Seth Beckett of Thomaston, Carly Simmons and Blake Simmons of Bremen and several nieces, nephews and friends.
 
Lily's family has chosen to honor her life privately.
