Letter to the editor: Vote for Rosie Gerry for Lincolnville Selectman

Mon, 10/24/2016 - 3:15pm

A vote for experience is the way to go. The town of Lincolnville has just positioned itself to take the lead in alternative energy by engaging with ReVision Energy to construct an array of solar panels on town owned property to help defray most of the costs of municipal power needs for a number of town owned facilities. A project that has been in the works for a number of months with very aggressive timelines.

The actual vote for this project at a most recent special town meeting turned out well over 125 registered town voters who approved the project with an unprecedented 100% approval. The end result is a pure indication that the project was researched thoroughly and presented accurately to the town, by towns people with passion, experience, and genuine concern for the long term success of the town in mind.

It is nice to be part of a town that does things the right way.

With all that in mind, there is an election coming in early November to fill a selectman's seat being vacated a bit early by Cathy Hardy. As most already know, these will be very hard shoes to fill. There are multiple people running for a chance to fill out this term . All with very good intentions. I am very happy that more and more people want to get involved with our great little town. With the pending maintenance demands and future development of our harbor along with many other projects coming to end, not to mention the temporary absence of our town administrator due to serious health concerns, I feel it very important that the person to fill the vacant spot be a person with passion for the town and its success, a person that has deep local ties to the town and its people, but most of all,
experience. As a resident and taxpayer of the town of Lincolnville, it is my opinion the best person to fill these shoes is Rosie Gerry. He has proven his passion by participating where ever there is a need.

Be it on town boards and or committees, or simply volunteering to get something done for the town at a donated rate. He has served on the board of selectman numerous terms. His latest term ending June 2016. The experience is there and he is well informed and up to speed with pending projects. A vote for Rosie Gerry is a vote for experience and in my opinion, is the right vote.

Keryn Laite lives in Lincolnville and is a selectman there.
