Letter to the editor: A vote for Jim Kalloch

Dear Editor,

You cannot imagine my delight when I heard that Jim Kalloch was going to be able to run again for the District 93 House Seat representing Owls Head and Rockland. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jim last year and was impressed with his no nonsense approach and kind heart.

I admire the fact that he served our country for 30 years and then wanted to come home to Maine, the place he was born and raised. He owns and operates Penobscot Ferry and Transport, a successful business and understands the dedication, hard work and sacrifice it takes to be a small business owner.

When he speaks of his grandson, I know he is serious about making Maine a better place for future generations. Jim also served on the school board.

I know he has witnessed firsthand the challenges we face as a community and he wants to make sure we balance the needs of today and the possibilities of the future.

While a professor at the Maine Maritime Academy, Jim was influential in helping to shape the futures of some very bright young students.

Jim and I have had many lengthy discussions about the issues facing Maine and it is clear to me that he is no rubber stamp!

I am confident he is an independent thinker and will represent the people of District 93. Please vote on March 10 for Jim Kalloch.
