Letter to the Editor: Vote for Bob Butler

Mon, 05/30/2016 - 11:30am

Waldoboro goes to the polls on June 14 to elect a selectman, and we are writing to endorse Bob Butler. A former selectman, Bob is one of our town's great assets. You will find him volunteering his time and business experience to help Waldoboro meet important challenges.

Bob, for example, is the chairman of the Transfer Station Committee and was a leader in updating the town's Solid Waste Ordinance. Thanks to Bob's leadership, recycling rates have doubled, waste transport and tipping costs have come down, and our transfer station has a new, efficient look. His work on the Broadband and Communications Technology committees helped bring fiber-optic broadband to Waldoboro Village and other parts of town at no cost to the town. Bob is a determined advocate for high-speed Internet for everyone in Waldoboro. It is probably the single thing Waldoboro can do to attract business, create jobs, and improve quality of life. Bob also played a key role in restructuring the town's medical insurance for employees, reducing costs by more than $1 million so far.

Bob works with everyone, and he has accomplished a lot for Waldoboro. Let's put him back on the Select Board.
