Letter to the editor: Thank you to the Camden crew for a mountain rescue

Wed, 10/28/2015 - 8:30pm

I had the pleasure of visiting the Camden area with my sister last weekend to celebrate our birthdays. An unfortunate hiking misstep caused a fractured ankle, which meant a call out for assistance descending the mountain.

I want to commend and most sincerely thank the park ranger, EMTs and the fire department crew, all of whom all had to hike three-quarters of a mile up the trail to reach me, and then traverse the difficult downhill journey carrying me on the gurney.

This had to be, without doubt, above and beyond the typical rescue call.

Thank you all for the good work, professionalism, and good humor in a bad situation.

And thanks also to the ticket booth monitor who kept my elderly mom busy and calm while she waited for my return.
