Letter to the editor: Pinny Beebe-Center deserves our vote

Mon, 10/24/2016 - 3:00pm

I am writing in support of Pinny Beebe-Center for the House of Representatives from Rockland and Owls Head.

Pinny has an exceptional background in public service,  including serving as a Knox County Commissioner and a member of the Coastal Counties Local Workforce Investment Board.  During her service on the Knox County Homeless Coalition she worked hard to resurrect Hospitality House, a shelter for homeless women and their children.

Pinny’s time in the legislature has continued to promote and focus on legislation that supports and benefits families locally and statewide.  She has worked to improve education and skills training.  She is a strong advocate for effective opioid education, prevention, treatment and recovery resources.  Pinny has worked to develop budgets that are fair and equitable without increasing property taxes so that young people and families can afford to live and work in Maine.

Particularly important to me are Pinny’s efforts on behalf of preserving and sustaining our beautiful, natural environment.  The Maine Conservation Voters have recognized Pinny’s excellent record in support of the environment on legislation that 1) protects our natural resources, 2) establishes a comprehensive solar policy, and 3) prevents unsustainable timber harvesting on public lands.

Pinny has demonstrated that she listens to her constituencies and when she speaks, you can be sure that her responses are thoughtful, reasoned and informed.  Her dedication to the citizens of Rockland, Owls Head and the state are further demonstrated by her perfect record of attendance in Augusta.  She deserves our vote!
