Letter to the Editor: Meil for House District 94

It is critical that Mainers elect thoughtful and responsible stewards of our natural resources to the legislature this term while making wise decisions on energy policy. This is why I am endorsing Kathleen Meil for state representative.

Kathleen and I have worked together on energy use and efficiency for some time, and her understanding of energy efficiency and the nomenclature of the industry are second to none. She has worked for years in the energy field and her ability to address every day, real life concerns like how to afford staying warm during our cold winter months sets her apart from every other candidate running for this seat. I've seen first hand how she's helped the people of our community become more conversant in energy efficiency while taking the time to explain complex issues in an easily understandable way. Mainers are acutely aware of our responsibilities to our environment and Kathleen is mindful of that every day. Preservation of our natural resources and the Maine way of life is central to her worldview. My hope is that she is named by leadership to the Energy Committee, where I'm sure she would excel.

Kathleen is also an outstanding communicator. Kathleen looks you in the eye, listens to what you share with her, and relates to your concerns. She is as honest and understanding a person as I have come across. The skill of storytelling is one that we need to rediscover, and Kathleen weaves a compelling narrative whenever she talks. For these two qualities of compassionate and thoughtful leadership and many more, I happily endorse Kathleen Meil for state representative for Rockport, Camden and Islesboro.
