Letter to the editor: Maine Women's Fund gives huge thanks to community

Wed, 05/11/2016 - 9:45am

On Sunday, May 8 members of the communities in southern Maine and in Midcoast Maine came together to celebrate Mother's Day and support the Fund by having the great pizza of Flatbread in Portland and in Rockport. On behalf of the board, staff, grantees and over 600,000 women and girls in Maine, we are full of gratitude to the Flatbread community for making the Maine Women's Fund the beneficiary of part of the proceeds on Mother's Day.

The Maine Women's Fund is the sole source of philanthropy for women and girls' economic security, with a mission of transforming the lives of Maine women and girls through strategic grantmaking, community engagement and support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to social change. Our vision is a justice and caring society in which Maine women and girls thrive so communities prosper.

For many years, Flatbread has made the Fund a grantee from the Portland location, and adding the recently-opened Rockport location is truly "the icing on the cake". Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate, eat pizza and support economic security for Maine's women and girls.

Sincerely,
Sarah Ruef-Lindquist, CEO Maine Woman’s Fund
