Letter to the editor: ‘It may be time for the rest of us to start gathering tar and feathers’

Thursday, Dec. 4, will be a month since the elections. A couple of days ago I ran into one of the leaders of the Friends of Rockport, the people who pounded in the signs and sent the blizzard of mail telling us the existing library could be "expanded and improved" right on the old site, and doubled in size with added parking for $500,000. I asked him when the group was planning on showing the Select Board or Library Committee their architect's plans and engineer's report proving their solution is possible, so we could get going on it. He gave me a small smile and said nothing. I remarked that it was all bull and that they were liars, and he still said nothing, just turned around.

It’s time we all started asking the Friends of Rockport how they could run a campaign of lies and deceit among their friends and neighbors. And it may be time for the rest of us to start gathering tar and feathers.
