Letter to the editor: Cutler is the candidate to beat LePage

Wed, 10/29/2014 - 1:15pm

Independent Eliot Cutler can beat Governor LePage.  Democrat Mike Michaud cannot.

Maine’s democrats are focused on fear of the other candidates, not the quality of theirs. They are asking the best candidate to drop out.

Maine has a storied tradition of political independence. Our greatest leaders have exhibited the ability to work with the populace without being constrained by party ideology and narrow interests.

Without independent leadership, Maine has endured party rule and subsequent economic decline.  Now, more than ever, we need to set aside our party preferences and vote for the best candidate.

Please place you party preferences aside and vote for the best person.

Eliot Cutler is socially progressive and fiscally conservative. He has successfully envisioned and served markets and created jobs. He is the only candidate to put forward a detailed comprehensive plan for getting Maine growing again.

Michaud cannot beat LePage in either a three-way or two-way race. In fact he is losing ground. Eliot Cutler now has the highest net favorability of all the candidates. He is the one who has consistently beaten LePage in head-to-head matchups.

A recent poll shows LePage beats Michaud by 10 points. If Cutler were not in the race, Michaud would lose to LePage by seven points.

Cutler can beat LePage. Vote for the best person, not the party. Vote Eliot Cutler.
