Letter to the editor: Chris Johnson is smart, caring, consistent, fair and even-tempered

Throughout this campaign season, Maine Senator Chris Johnson has been a consistently positive and pro-active candidate. He has knocked on thousands of doors, and learned about people's needs, hopes, and desires in one-on-one conversations throughout the Lincoln County. At the same time, Chris has diligently continued working for his constituents, maintaining monthly office hours, listening closely to different opinions, engaging in discussions, and taking the initiative to solve problems.

Chris works on the Regional Planning Commission, attends selectmen and town meetings, and participates in community gatherings around the district. He has sponsored bills and worked on a range of statewide issues, as well as convening meetings with stakeholders to find non-legislative solutions to community, business, and constituent problems. Examples include creation of a county-wide, community based response to the drug addiction problem that combines law enforcement with health care and treatment; a cooperative multi-agency initiative to clean up the Medomak River for clammers; fixing utility power problems and clarifying fire marshal regulations in Boothbay Harbor; and helping Round Pond businesses by shifting the Maine Department of Transportation's Rte. 32 work closure to avoid peak tourism season. In addition, Chris has been a member of the RSU 12 school board since 2009, staying with it during these active years as state senator.

Chris is smart, caring, consistent, fair, and even-tempered. He sees the big picture, and he looks toward the future. His door-to-door conversations and his printed campaign materials are a true reflection of his focus on the people he serves. Because of all that Chris brings to being our Senator, he earns our votes.
