JACKSON — Lee P. Kragh, 86, passed away on Jan. 9, 2017, at Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast. He was born in St. Louis Missouri to the late Carl and Leatha Kragh.

Lee served an enlistment in the United States Army Air Corp, then went into the Navy. After serving in the Navy on air craft carrier Wright during the Korean War, Lee went on to be a licensed practical nurse and worked at Paul A. Dever State School in Massachusetts for 17 years.

Lee and his wife, along with their 1-year-old daughter moved in 1973 to Jackson, and worked at the Maine State Prison for 17 years before retiring in 1991.

In his life Lee enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, reading, watching movies and bowling.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Carl Kragh; his sister, Patty Lass; and by his grandson, Jerimy Kragh. Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy Kragh; his children, Theresa Ann Carpenter, Lee Palmer Kragh Jr. and Laurie Lee Kragh; his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; his one niece and several nephews.

Lee always said "old soldiers never die, they just fade away," which was a quote from Gen. Douglas Macarthur.
