GRAY — Maine is now under yet another winter storm warning this evening, Wednesday, as heavy snow is once again on the way.

The National Weather Service updated its weather message 4:24 p.m. Feb. 18, and the winter storm warning is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight until 1 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20.

A trough of low pressure will develop off the coast and move inland tonight. This low will be the focus for heavy snowfall, according to the NWS, and while the heaviest snow will be localized, 6 to 10 inches can be expected across most of the area.

The localized amounts could be in excess of a foot of snow, with snowfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour at times.

For the Midcoast, accumulations of 8 to 12 inches of snow are possible, with heavier snowfall moving into the area tonight. The snow will taper off early Friday.

Winds will be northeast, 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Temperatures will be 7 to 27 degrees Fahrenheit.

Visibilities will be 1/4-mile or less at times, making travel dangerous, according to the NWS.
