LINCOLNVILLE – Larry L. Arne, 70, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, May 24, 2018.

Born in Lafayette, Indiana, August 5, 1947, he was the son of Vernon L. and Helen Haler Arne.  After moving to Maine at a young age, he attended local schools and was a 1965 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School.

On March 5, 1964, he married Rebecca J. Bryant.

Larry began his working career at French & Brawn Grocery Store in Camden, and that fall he began work at Camden Farmers Union as their oil delivery driver.  He worked a total of 43 years with that company where he was known and loved by all the customers.  He retired in 2009 from Camden Farmers Union which at that time had been purchased by Kalloch Fuel Company.

He enjoyed history and was quite knowledgeable on that subject.  He was also an avid gardener and was known  by many folks for the farm-stand he operated.

More than anything, Larry was devoted to his family.  He enjoyed being with them whenever possible.  In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  Larry’s family remembers his fish chowder, listening to his jokes and history lessons, playing cards, and lobster feeds.

Larry is survived by his wife and two daughters; Tammy A. Bragg and her husband, David N. Bragg Jr., of Appleton; Sherrie A. Arne, of Rockport; brother, Dwight Arne, of Illinois; sister Caroline A. Aizawa of California;  and six grandchildren, Alan Bragg, Dayton Bragg, Calan Bragg, Heather Hall, Taylor Hall, John Hall and great-grandson Jaxson Bragg.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.  A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Lake View Cemetery in Union.  The Rev. Kenneth Dale will officiate.  To share a memory with Larry’s family, please visit their online Book of Memories at www.bchfh.com.
