Knox County Sheriffs beat: Missing person, arrest warrants, bad checks

    The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to 282 calls for service for the period of Jan. 15-21. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

    Jan 15

    Deputy Nathaniel Jack and Sgt. John Palmer responded to a report of a domestic assault in Warren. Jack arrested Michael E. Grant, 53, of Warren, for domestic violence assault.

    Deputy Scott Redmun conducted a traffic stop in Warren. Paul Heino, 41, of Thomaston, was summoned for operating a defective motor vehicle, failure to produce valid inspection, failure to produce evidence of insurance, and violation of conditional release.

    Jan 16

    Redmun, Deputy Arthur Smith, and Sgt. Matthew Elwell responded to the report of a disorderly male in Friendship. Smith summoned a 17-year-old juvenile for disorderly conduct.

    Palmer responded to the report of a theft in Warren. Candice Jones, 41, of Waldoboro, was arrested for theft by unauthorized taking and Jonathan Jones, 41, of Waldoboro, was summoned for theft by unauthorized taking.

    Smith responded to a traffic crash in Hope. Rachel Ripley, 25, of Hope, struck a deer on Barnestown Road. The vehicle sustained functional damage and no injuries were reported.

    Jan 17

    Deputy Robert Potter responded to a traffic crash on Vinalhaven. Patrick Gasperini, 28, of Vinalhaven, died at the hospital while being treated for injuries he sustained. The crash is under investigation.

    Deputy Paul Spear conducted a traffic stop in Cushing. Shanon Lafrance, 45, of Cushing, was summoned for operating after license suspension.

    Spear conducted a wanted person’s check in Rockland. James Makie, 51, of Cushing, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

    Jan 18

    Redmun and Potter responded to the report of a theft on Vinalhaven. The incident is under investigation.

    Sgt. Lance Mitchell responded to a traffic crash in Warren. Emily Weiss, 40, of Warren, lost control of her vehicle, due to slippery road conditions, on Eastern Road and struck a tree. The vehicle sustained functional damage and minor injuries were reported.

    Mitchell conducted a wanted person’s check in Washington. Allen Shenett, 51, of Washington, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

    Detective Dwight Burtis responded to the report of a protection order violation in Rockland. The incident is under investigation.

    Deputy Jeremy Joslyn and Spear responded to the report of a probation violation in Friendship. Joslyn arrested Jonathan Sevon, 42, of Friendship, for violation of probation.

    Jan 19

    Smith conducted a traffic stop in Cushing. Travis Robinson, 34, of Cushing, was summoned for speeding.

    Smith responded to the report of a theft in Friendship. The incident is under investigation.

    Smith responded to a report of identity theft in Washington. The incident is under investigation.

    Mitchell responded to the report of a missing person from Saint George. The individual was located by Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office Deputies on January 20. Subject was safe and healthy.

    Joslyn conducted a wanted person’s check in Cushing. Brittany Maloney, 29, of Cushing, was arrested on an arrest warrant.

    Joslyn and Mitchell responded to the report of a traffic crash in Warren. Shane Stockbridge, 22, of Warren, rolled his snowmobile on an ice bank on Depot Road. The vehicle sustained functional damage and Stockbridge was taken to the hospital for injuries.

    Jan 20

    Deputy Pinkham and Joslyn conducted a wanted person’s check in Rockland. Joslyn arrested Danica Miller, 21, of Warren, on an arrest warrant.

    Pinkham responded to the report of a bad check in Union, the incident is under investigation.

    Smith and Mitchell responded to the report of a traffic crash in St. George. Kyle Clough, 24, of St. George, was following Christian Dehlinger, 56, of Rockland, too closely and was unable to stop when Dehlinger began to slow down for a stopped school bus on the River Road. Clough and Dehlinger’s vehicles were towed due to disabling damage. Dehlinger was taken to the hospital for injuries.

    Potter responded to the report of a theft on Vinalhaven. The incident is under investigation.
