CUSHING — Knox County Sheriff’s deputies arriving at the scene of a crash in Cushing Tuesday night found a pickup truck that had rolled over multiple times and taken out a utility pole.

The crash was reported around 8 p.m. on Cushing Road (Route 97).

The truck was being operated by Joseph Dinapoli, 25, of Cushing, and according to the Sheriff’s Office, Dinapoli told them a deer ran out in front of him and as he tried to avoid hitting it, he lost control on a curve. The 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck traveled approximately 120 yards, through the utility pole and rolling several times, before coming to a rest back on its wheels.

Dinapoli and two passengers, Maxwell Hodgkins, 22, of Bath and Ryan McGlauflin, 21,  of Edgecomb, were all transported by ambulance to Pen Bay medical center in Rockport, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Dinapoli was released from the hospital shortly after arrival, according to the Sheriff’s Office, while Hodgkins and McGlauflin remained with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Cushing Fire assisted at the scene, and medical staff from Cushing, Warren and Thomaston provided care and transport. The crash is being reconstructed by Maine State Police and forensically mapped by members of the KCSO.
