Knox County Sheriff’s beat: Arrest warrants, speeding, drug possession

    The Knox County Sheriff's Office received 640 calls for service from July 31-Aug. 13. Calls not listed include agency assists, animal problems, bail and warrant checks, business/residential alarms, business/residential property checks, check-ins, citizen assists, civil disputes, crisis interventions, death investigations, nuisances complaints, court paper service, marine resource inspections, motor vehicle crashes, police information, suspicious persons and circumstances, traffic hazards, and traffic stops. An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

    July 31

    Sgt. Lance Mitchell conducted a speed enforcement detail in Warren, and reported the following results: Jeffrey York, 55, of St. George, summoned for speeding; Devin Meklin, 20, of Warren, summoned for speeding.; Erik Jura, 57, of Cushing, summoned for speeding; Steven Judge, 46, of Cushing, summoned for speeding.

    Aug. 1

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Deputy John Hansen summoned Steven Kaler, 50, of Warren, for speeding.

    Following a traffic stop in Washington, Mitchell summoned James Dorsky, 51, of Jefferson, for improper passing.

    Hansen conducted a speed enforcement detail throughout the county, and reported the following results: Ryan Chaney, 25, of Phippsburg, summoned for commercial operator using handheld device in St. George; Lydia Fournier, 32, of Rockport, summoned for speeding in Warren; Aaron Heald, 38, of Cushing, summoned for speeding in Cushing.

    Following a traffic stop in Rockland, Deputy Arthur Smith summoned Dimitrious Manos, 44, of Rockland, for failure to display current inspection certificate.

    Following a check for a wanted person in South Thomaston, Deputy Scott Redmun arrested Douglas David, 45, of South Thomaston, on an active arrest warrant.

    Aug. 2

    Deputy Jeremy Joslyn conducted a speed enforcement detail throughout the county, and reported the following results: Robert Cole, 18, of Jefferson, summoned for speeding in Washington; Jean Young, 70, of South Thomaston, summoned for failure to display current inspection certificate in South Thomaston; Helga Manning, 80, of St. Geroge, summoned for speeding in St. George; William Martin, 78, of Vero Beach, Fla., summoned for speeding in St. George; Jason Burridge, 46, of Cushing, summoned for failure to display current inspection certificate in St. George; Elizabeth Bush, 82, of St. George, summoned for failure to produce evidence of insurance in St. George; William Martin, 57, of Cumberland, R.I., summoned for speeding and failure to produce evidence of insurance in Washington.

    Following a vehicle crash in South Thomaston, Hansen arrested James Seekins, 56, of Owls Head, for operating under the influence.

    Following a vehicle crash in Warren, Deputy Paul Spear summoned Ronald Lufkin, 72, of Warren, for failure to yield right of way.

    Deputy Justin Hills responded to a report of criminal mischief on North Haven; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a vehicle crash in Warren, Redmun arrested Allison Hamelin, 34, of Warren, for operating under the influence.

    Redmun responded to a theft report in Cushing; the incident is under investigation.

    Detective Justin Twitchell responded to a report of a violation of conditions of release in Warren; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Spear summoned David Bryant, 20, of Warren, for speeding.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Joslyn arrested Wilson Collamore, 40, of South Thomaston, for violation of probation.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Sgt. Patrick Polky summoned Marion Buckland, 51, of Rockland, for operating without a license and failure to dim headlights.

    Aug. 4

    Following a traffic stop in Hope, Joslyn summoned Nicholas Adkins, 26, of Warren, for illegal possession of marijuana.

    Deputy Paul Pinkham responded to an incident in Hope, and arrested Timothy Wall, 43, of Rockland, for violation of a protection order.

    Sgt. John Palmer and Pinkham responded to a complaint in Warren and as a result, arrested Kara Salo, 30, of Warren, for criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and violation of conditional release.

    Detectives Dwight Burtis and Donald Murray responded to a report of a fight in Cushing. Burtis arrested Devin Trull, 23, of Cushing, for domestic violence assault.

    Deputy Robert Potter responded to a report of a fight on Vinalhaven. Potter arrested Austin Jackomino, 26, of Vinalhaven, for domestic violence assault.

    Following a report of drugs on Vinalhaven, Potter summoned Ashli Hooper, 20, of Vinalhaven, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Aug. 5

    Mitchell responded to a fraud report in Owls Head; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Joslyn summoned Ryan West, 39, of Benton, for speeding.

    Joslyn responded to a vehicle crash report in St. George. Joslyn summoned Ben Murdock, 33, of Monhegan, for failure to report a crash by quickest means and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.

    Chief Deputy Timothy Carroll, Sgt. Matthew Elwell, and deputies Palmer, Joslyn, Hansen, Jack, Spear, Smith, Redmun, and Hills conducted a safety checkpoint in Rockport, and reported the following results: Kevin Malmstrom, 37, of Rockland, summoned for failure to display current inspection certificate; Micah Roach, 29, of Vassalboro, summoned for operating without a license; John McCaslin, 22, of Augusta, summoned for illegal possession of marijuana; Sara Salamone, 33, of Brooklyn, N.Y., summoned for illegal possession of marijuana; Dylan Smith, 26, of Rockland, summoned for failure to display valid inspection certificate; Ryan Hopkins, 25, of Union, summoned for operating with expired registration; Kimberly Sanderson, 45, of Searsmont, summoned for failure to display current certificate of inspection; Corey Robinson, 24, of Cushing, summoned for failure to display current certificate of inspection; Alec Paul, 21, of Thomaston, summoned for failure to display current certificate of inspection and failure to produce evidence of insurance; Dustin Seekins, 25, of Washington, summoned for operator not secured in seat belt; Jason Wade, 42, of Palermo, summoned for failure to display current certificate of inspection; 17-year-old juvenile summoned for illegal transportation of liquor by a minor and illegal possession of marijuana; Dustin Doliber, 28, of Washington, arrested for operating under the influence.

    Smith responded to a theft report in South Thomaston; the incident is under investigation.

    Aug. 7

    Following a traffic stop in Hope, Spear summoned Harold Fickett III, 19, of Clifton, for speeding.

    Murray and Pinkham responded to a report of a fight in Union. Murray arrested Andrew Jura, 28, of Union, for aggravated assault, domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, and violation of conditional release.

    Twitchell responded to a report of a sex offense in Friendship; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a vehicle crash in Union, Redmun arrested Thomas Gilliland, 54, of Rockland, for operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage crash. Gilliland was also summoned for failure to produce evidence of insurance.

    Aug. 8

    Burtis responded to a report of a fight in Cushing; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a traffic stop, Elwell summoned Charles Markowitz, 62, of Belfast, for failure to stop at stop sign.

    Palmer conducted a speed enforcement detail in Union, and reported the following results: Raymond Meader, 59, of Dixfield, summoned for speeding; Roger Flick, 61, of Waldoboro, summoned for speeding; Bernard Roberts, 36, of Appleton, summoned for speeding; Tena Wallace, 49, of St. George, summoned for speeding; Emylee Leary, 18, of Union, summoned for speeding.

    Jack responded to a burglary report in Washington; the incident is under investigation.

    Burtis responded to a complaint of threatening in St. George; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a vehicle crash in Hope, Redmun arrested Tristo Emery, 40, of Camden, for operating under the influence, illegal possession of schedule W drug and illegal possession of schedule Y drug. Emery was also summoned for illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Following a vehicle crash on Vinalhaven, Potter summoned a 16-year-old juvenile for operating without a license, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and failure to report crash by quickest means.

    Aug. 9

    Following a vehicle crash in Warren, Jack summoned Robert Watts, 86, of Thomaston, for failure to stop at stop sign.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Palmer summoned Marian Brezniak, 62, of Rockland, for operating with expired registration.

    Redmun responded to a theft report in Union; the incident is under investigation.

    Potter responded to several criminal mischief reports on Vinalhaven; the incidents are under investigation.

    Aug. 10

    Burtis responded to a complaint of witness tampering in St. George. An arrest warrant for tampering with a witness and violation of conditional release was issued for John Flower, 31, of Rockland, and Rockland Police Department arrested Flower on the warrant a few days later.

    Spear responded to a harassment report in Cushing; the incident is under investigation.

    Aug. 11

    Lt. Reginald Walker and deputies Jack, Pinkham, Palmer and Burtis responded to a report of a person in crisis in Washington. As a result, Jack arrested Kurtis Peterson, 62, of Washington, for aggravated assault, assault, disorderly conduct, and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

    Potter responded to a threatening report on Vinalhaven; the incident is under investigation.

    Following a probation check on Vinalhaven, Potter summoned Brennan Dyer, 40, of Vinalhaven, for violation of probation.

    Aug. 12

    Following a traffic stop in Cushing, Spear summoned Daryl Young, 39, of Warren, for operating motor vehicle while license suspended and failure to produce evidence of insurance.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Elwell summoned Denis Hickey, 20, of Thomaston, for illegal attachment of license plates and illegal possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Aug. 13

    Following a theft report on North Haven, Hills summoned a 17-year-old juvenile for theft.

    Following a traffic stop in Thomaston, Elwell summoned Peter Bishop, 57, of Warren, for failure to display current certificate of inspection.

    Following a traffic stop in Warren, Spear summoned Taylor Olsen, 23, of Rockland, and Robert Maharrey, 26, of Actworth, Ga., for operating unregistered all terrain vehicles on a public way.

    Palmer conducted an impaired driving detail throughout the county, and reported the following results: Corey Rytky, 36, of St. George, summoned for failure to display current certificate of inspection in St. George.
