Knox County Grand Jury indictments: Manslaughter, heroin trafficking, sex abuse

    ROCKLAND – The Knox County Grand Jury handed down 41 indictments on Feb.13. The indictments included 38 individuals from Maine and three from Conn., N.Y. and Georgia. An indictment does not imply guilt.

    Samuel Simmons, 19, of Spruce Head, was indicted on one count of manslaughter for the death of Alison Low, 38, of Warren, and two counts of driving to endanger for the injuries sustained by Olivia Blachet, 18, and Dustin Kimball, 18, who were passengers in Low’s vehicle. Simmons vehicle, a GMC pick- up, crossed the center line on Route 1 in Warren and struck Low’s vehicle head on. Low died at the scene of the crash and Blachet and Kimball were seriously injured.

    Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison has confirmed that drugs, alcohol and texting did not attribute to the cause of the crash. Simmons stated that he did not know why his truck crossed the center line.

    Douglas Mazzotta, 71, of Middletown, Conn., and Paul Milardo, a Maine State Prison inmate and formerly of Cushing, were both charged for their roles in a drug ring that allegedly transported opiates from Connecticut to the prison inside greeting cards.

    Mazzotta was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in Suboxone.  He was accused of supplying the drugs and sending it through the mail in greeting cards.

    Milardo was charged with two felony counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs.  He is currently serving a sentence in the Maine State Prison for a drug related robbery and assault.

    Matthew Binnette, 38, of Biddeford, and a Maine State Prison inmate, was indicted for conspiracy to traffic in Suboxone.

    Christy Nason, 38, of Warren, was charged with felony trafficking in Suboxone.

    Edwin Robinson, 33, of Randolph, was indicted for felony trafficking in Suboxone.

    Travis Work, 30, of Topsham, was indicted for felony trafficking in Suboxone.

    Additional indictments include:

    James Prescott, 38, of Warren, was indicted on 13 counts of gross sexual assault for abusing a minor victim. The sexual abuse allegedly occurred for over a period of six years. Prescott told police the contact was consensual, but admitted he knew what he was doing was wrong, according to court documents.

    Donald Edwin Westover Sr., 68, of Waterville, negotiating a worthless instrument.

    Tyler J. Damon, 23, of Stockton Springs, domestic violence terrorizing, violation of protective order, harassment by telephone or electronic communication device.

    Brandon Nelson, 30, of Wiscasset, trafficking in prison contraband, attempted trafficking in prison contraband.

    Louis J. Rubino, 34, of Waldoboro, trafficking in prison contraband.

    Joseph Demmons, 31, of Trenton, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

    Tammara K. Arnold-Lewis, 50, of Warren, trafficking in prison contraband.

    Jeremy R. Dennison, 28, of Rockland, arson, criminal mischief and aggravated criminal mischief.

    Christopher A. Wildhaber, 45, of Rockland, domestic violence assault.

    Kara Joy Kenney, 36, of Belfast, theft by unauthorized taking, theft by deception.

    Bethany L. Haywood, 45, of Rockland, theft by unauthorized taking, theft by deception.

    Derek Vandoren, 31, of Rockland, unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine, conspiracy to commit unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine.

    Robert Rein, 56, of Rockland, aggravated trafficking in methamphetamine, unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine , conspiracy to commit unlawful trafficking in methamphetamine.

    Daeshawn McDonald, 24, of N.Y., two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin, trafficking in prison contraband, criminal forfeiture of $5,826.

    Daniel Williams, 24, of N.Y., two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin, trafficking in prison contraband, criminal forfeiture of $4,592.

    Anthony Langille, 46, of Waldoboro, two counts of aggravated trafficking in heroin.

    Christine Hunt, 36, of Cushing, unlawful trafficking in heroin, conspiracy to commit unlawful trafficking in heroin.

    Mitchell Carney, 24, of Thomaston, two counts of unlawful trafficking in oxycodone, unlawful trafficking in marijuana, cultivation of marijuana, criminal forfeiture of a 1997 Chevy pick-up truck.

    Zachary Barnes, 23, of Cushing, unlawful trafficking in Suboxone, aggravated trafficking in oxycodone, unlawful trafficking in oxycodone, criminal forfeiture of a 1990 Chevy pick-up truck.

    Michael Carver, 36, of Rockland, theft by deception, theft by unauthorized taking.

    Michael Leon, 44, of Appleton, aggravated trafficking in heroin unlawful trafficking in heroin, unlawful possession of heroin.

    Christopher Widdecomb, 41, of St. George, unlawful possession of heroin.

    Brandon Yeaton, 23, of Cushing, two counts of unlawful trafficking in oxycodone.

    Kyle MacDougall, 35, of Warren, two counts of unlawful trafficking in oxycodone, aggravated trafficking in oxycodone.

    Christy Nason, 38, of Warren, two counts of unlawful trafficking in oxycodone, two counts of violation of condition of release.

    Treavor Brooks, 23, of Warren, unlawful trafficking in cocaine, refusing to submit to arrest.

    Jason Baughman, 47, of Warren, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief.

    Marc L. Merrill, 44, of Gorham, six counts of possession of sexually explicit materials depicting a person under 12 years of age.

    Tracey L. Gossell, 47, of Acworth, Ga., forgery, theft by deception.

    Brandi Libby, 30, of Rockland, assault on a child less than six years of age.

    Miranda Kelley, 27, of Lincolnville, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer.

    Bethany Hayward, 45, of Rockland, theft by unauthorized taking.

    Hillary Long, 29, of Warren, aggravated trafficking in cocaine, unlawful trafficking in cocaine, criminal forfeiture of $1,000 and a Ford Taurus station wagon.
