Kids, instruments, free demo classes at Midcoast Music Together

    MIDCOAST — Midcoast Music Together's fall session of classes will start this month, with classes for children 0-5 and their family being offered in Rockland, Rockport, and Belfast.

    In addition to mixed aged classes for children 0-5 and their families, there will also be a special Babies class for infants 0-8 months, as well as a grown-up guitar class which teaches parents and caregivers the songs from the song collection to play at home on guitar.

    Based on the recognition that all children are musical, Music Together™ classes have been designed to engage children of all ages making it easy to join in as a whole family with the musical activity continuing the learning at home and within the context of daily life. Fun and informal the,se classes incorporate traditional, original and international songs, chants and finger rhymes, as well as various instruments and props.

    Free demo classes are being offered as well. Megan Rogers will be leading a free mixed-aged demo class at Rockland Public Library on September 8 at 9:15 a.m.  Midcoast Music Together Director Jess Day is offering a free Babies class at the Picker Family Resource Center on September 19.

    The 10-week semester starts Monday, Sept. 15 with classes being held at the Rockland Public Library, Picker Family Resource Center at Pen Bay Hospital, Bay Chamber in Rockport, and Waterfall arts in Belfast at various times of the day.
