FRIENDSHIP — Kenneth George "Kenny" Burns, of Friendship, died Oct. 3, 2016, passing peacefully at home. Kenny was born April 7, 1943, in Waldoboro, to Raymond and Jennie (Simmons) Burns.

He attended Waldoboro schools and had his first lobster boat at age 14. He went lobstering for some time, drove an oil truck for Genthners in Waldoboro and then became a custodian for Maine School Administrative District 40 schools until his retirement 17 years later due to health reasons. Kenny loved playing cribbage and card games. He often played weekly poker or cribbage games with several groups of friends right up until this past week.

Kenny was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Thomaston.

Kenny was predeceased by his parents; a son, Kenneth Burns Jr.; and his siblings, Raymond Burns, Hazel Sargent and Chester Burns.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Smith Burns; his son, Michael Lunt and his wife, Armorny, of Port Clyde; his daughter, Rhonda Bergoffen and her husband, Dan, of Dunedin, Fla.; his sister, Joyce Richards of Friendship; his grandsons, Michael Lunt and his wife, Ashleigh, of Port Clyde, and Robbie Lunt and his partner, Meagan Carves, of Gardiner; and five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

At Kenny's request there will be no services.
