MONROE — Karen S. DeMerchant, 55, went to be with the Lord on Aug. 6, 2016, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Ventura, Calif., on April 10, 1961, daughter of Hillis and Sandra (Walker) Nichols.

Karen spent many years sharing her love of helping people as a certified nursing assistant.

Loyalty was Karen's value. For those whose life she touched, she will be sincerely loved and missed. Her memory will be cherished. Heaven now has a fierce, strong willed guardian angel. Until we meet again.

Karen was predeceased by her father, Hillis Nichols; and her husband, Blair DeMerchant. She is survived by her mother, Sandra Nichols of Swanville; her fiance, David Violette of Monroe; her children, Chris and Gina DeMerchant of South China, Nicholas and Angie DeMerchant of Monroe, Jamie and Kevin Farris of Hope, and Blair and Kimi DeMerchant of Montville; her siblings, Debbie and Norman Maddocks of Turner, Arlene and Albert Russo of Albion, Daisy and George Bowen of Buckfield, Nancy and Charlie Larrabee of Searsport, Wayne Nichols of Richmond, and Lesley and Michael Day of Mechanic Falls; her beloved grandchildren, Kail, Marissa, Ian, Megan, Devin, Scott, Jailyn, Piper and Baby B.; and one great-grandson, Dominic.

Relatives and friends may call on the family on Thursday, Aug. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Swanville Community Church, with the Rev. Rick Lambert.

Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville.
