BELFAST — Joseph Nickerson passed away peacefully on April 7, 2016, at 8:17 p.m. in Belfast, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by family.

Joe graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast in 1953. He also completed some courses at Eastern Maine Technical College in 2000. Joe was known for his ability to supervise large teams of people to achieve optimal results and received multiple awards during his long career at Holly Farms and in the poultry business.

Joe attended Calvary Chapel Church in Belfast and loved his the Rev. Storm Gould, his wife, Rhoda Gould, and his church family. Joe lived a full life and will be missed by all. Those who love him take comfort in knowing that he is in heaven with our Lord Jesus.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Joseph Nickerson; his mother, Doris Parsons; and his stepfather, William Parsons. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ella Nickerson of Waldo; his son, Joseph "Jody" Nickerson and his wife, Vanessa Nickerson, of Parkland, Fla.; his daughter, Kelli Jo Greer and her husband, Dr. Robert Greer, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and his stepdaughters, Roxanne Copeland and her husband, Ronnie Copeland, of Monroe, N.C., and Sonja Abbott of Waldo. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Kelsey Shea Nickerson and her twin brother, Joseph Kevin Nickerson, Dr. Robert Greer V, Dr. Joseph Chintan Greer, Terri Abbott, Kati Abbott and Michael Abbott; and his great-grandchildren, Casey Bubar, Cody Bubar, Dylan Abbott, Kaelyn Abbott, Lyndsey Abbott and Levi Winslow.
