WEST ROCKPORT — John Cecil Robinson, 74, of West Rockport, passed away March 26, 2014, after a very courageous 3-1/2-year battle with cancer. He was born July 10,1939, to John and Sadie Robinson in Belfast.

After graduating from Rockport High School, John served in the Army from 1962-1965 and was stationed in Korea. He then returned home to start his career as a carpenter, which he really enjoyed doing and took great pride in the quality of carpentry that he did.

He was a member of the Silver Fox Dance Club and he had a great love and passion for dancing. Also he loved going to the fairs each year to watch horse and tractor pulling. While at the fairs he enjoyed looking at the antique tractors and his favorite fair food, which was fried clams and french fries. In the spring of the year he could be found following the Coast Guard icebreakers up the Kennebec River, watching them clear the ice. He also enjoyed spending time at Rockport Harbor admiring the water and the boats.

John is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Bertha Bachelor and her husband, Edwin Bachelor; his brother, Basil Robinson; and his granddaughter, Randi Lynn Chace. John is survived by his three children, Scott Robinson and his wife, Jill, of Warren, Laurie Moulton and her husband, Ronald, of Appleton, and Tina Robinson of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Jayla Robinson of Warren, Nicole Copeland and her husband, Brett, of Rockland, Scott Moulton of Rockland and Shyanne Moulton of Rockland, Ricky Chace of Phoenix, Ariz., Casey Robinson of Camden and Heaven Dow of Auburn; and four great-grandchildren, Kayley and Hayden Copeland, Nevaeh Howes and Hailey Robinson.

There will be a celebration of his life throughout the afternoon Saturday, April 19, from noon to 4 p.m., with light food and beverages, at the Rockport Masonic Center, 361 Main St. in Rockport.
