TENANTS HARBOR — Joan Spicer Anderson passed peacefully and comfortably in the early morning of July 4, 2016, with her family present. Joan was the loving wife of William August Anderson Sr.

She is survived by her four children, William Jr., Douglas, Wesley and daughter Donna; her grandchildren, Brian, James, Darcy, Ian, Jessica and Timothy; and her great-grandchildren.

Joan was happily married for 45 years and raised her four children through their college years on Long Island, N.Y. Joan worked in banking in her early career in New York, and moved on to become office manager of her husbands architectural firm in New York, and later in Tenants Harbor. Both Joan and Bill Sr. retired to her childhood summer home in Tenants Harbor.

Joan was an accomplished oil painter and widely known for her oil seascapes. During the course of her entire life, Joan would spend all of her summers with family and paint the rocks and beaches of the Maine coast. Joan continued to paint until the last years of her life.

In retirement, Joan was an active parishioner of the Ridge Church in Port Clyde. As a parishioner she was also a permanent member of the choir. Joan was an active member of the Ladies Auxilary of the VFW in Tenants Harbor for move than 15 years. Both Joan and her husband celebrated and actively participated in every Fourth of July in the community and local parades with the veterans of war, as well as at the memorials for our servicemen past and present.

Joan and her husband enjoyed their retirement and life to its full extent with their family, six grandchildren, great-grandchildren and of course their dear friends and community to the fullest.

She will be fondly remembered and missed by all. God bless and rest in peace, Mom.

The family has chosen to honor Joan's life privately.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in her memory to the St. George Ambulance Service, 3 School Street, Tenants Harbor, ME. 04860.

Arrangements are with Hall's of Thomaston.
