VINALHAVEN — Jeremy Robert Warren Philbrook, 36, of Vinalhaven, passed away suddenly Aug. 13, 2014.

He was the son of Barbara E. (Warren) Philbrook of Vinalhaven and the late Robert E. Sykes. On Aug. 15, 1989, he was adopted by Joby Philbrook Jr. of Vinalhaven. He was a 1996 graduate of Vinalhaven High School.

Jeremy had two beautiful daughters with Jamie B. Ames; Caroline Anne, 16, and Ava Elizabeth, 9.

On Sept. 27, 2008, he married his best friend, Keeley L. McCarthy. His third daughter, Alice Lorraine, was born Aug. 15, 2013. His "girls" were the sunshine in his life.

Jeremy was a lifelong resident of Vinalhaven. He loved all four seasons, even though he complained about the winter. He was a lover of the outdoors in all ways, especially lobstering in the waters around Vinalhaven and working in the woods cutting firewood. Listening to music was a passion. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, always wanting to keep score to see who could get the most questions right — he won most of the time.

His favorite saying was "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't tune-ah-fish!"

Surviving is his wife, Keeley L. McCarthy; his three daughters, Caroline Anne, Ava Elizabeth and Alice Lorraine; his parents, Barbara and Joby Philbrook; his brothers, Josh, Richard and Robert Sykes; his sisters, Lori Grover and Dot Sewall; his aunt, Linda Oxton; his mother and father-in-law, Greta and Mark McCarthy; a brother-in-law, John McCarthy and his wife, Alexandra; a sister-in-law, Laura McCarthy; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert E. Sykes; and his uncle, Alvin Oxton.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at Brown's Head Cemetery, with Bob Candage officiating.
