ROCKLAND — Jennifer Lynn “Jenn” Grotton, 48, died June 21, 2015, following a long illness, at her home, her loving husband was at her side.

Born Sept. 10, 1966, in Fort Polk, La., she was the daughter of Laverne and Gesena Toepp Dean. Growing up in upstate New York, she attended school there, graduating in 1980.

Following high school, Jenn attended Auburn Community College for two years. In the late 1980s she moved to Maine to be close to her parents, who had relocated to Lincolnville.

For many years Jenn was employed as an office manager and medical receptionist, both in New York and Maine. On April 2, 1994, Jenn married her best-friend, Thad Grotton. Together they have made their home in Rockland.

She was a voracious reader, even studying library science while in college. She enjoyed many genres, but especially loved medical mysteries.

Most importantly, Jenn was a person who loved life. She loved being with family and making the best of every situation. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family in Maine, New York and Montana.

Jenn is survived by her parents, Laverne and Gesena Dean of Billings, Mont.; her husband, Thad Grotton of Rockland; her daughters, Catherine Oliva Grotton of Bangor and Elizabeth Ann Grotton of Rockland; three step-daughters, Heather Grotton Emerson and her husband, Randy, of Waldoboro, Alyssa Demmons and her husband, Matthew, of Rockland, and Alex Grotton and her companion, James Todd, of Rockland; her brothers, Michael Dean of Waldoboro, and Marc Dean and his wife, Jill, of Billings, Mont.; her sister, Sarah Harvey and her husband, Brian, of Billings, Mont.; and three grandchildren, Rowen Avery Grotton, Raven Todd and Dale Gavin Barnard.

Jennifer's family has chosen to remember her life privately.
