CAMDEN — Jenness Pearl Eugley, 89, died April 13, 2013, after a short stay at Knox Center For Long Term Care in Rockland. Born in Rockland Aug. 2, 1923, he was the son of Irvin Otis and Agnes Mae (Heal) Eugley and grew up and attended elementary school in Lincolnville. He was a 1941 graduate of Camden High School and had been a finalist in the national Westinghouse Talent Search, with a project on rural electrification. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering physics at the University of Maine, where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, an honorary engineering society.

During World War II, Jenness served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater, after having taken ACTI technical courses at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. On Aug. 1, 1944, he married Mary Louise Hahn in Easton, Pa.

For 47 years, Jenness worked as a defense electronics engineer at RCA/GE in Camden, N.J. and Burlington, Mass., retiring in 1986. During his engineering career with the company, he held one patent and several disclosures.

After retirement, Jenness remained active in the Winchester, Mass., community, serving at the First Congregational Church as a deacon and as chairman of the Providential Committee and the Christian Education Committee, as well as coordinating volunteer drivers for the Jenk's Senior Center. Jenness and Mary Lou also researched, wrote and published a book on the Eugley geneology.

In 2004, as Jenness's Parkinson's disease progressed, they moved to Quarry Hill in Camden, having previously spent many enjoyable summers at their home in Lincolnville.

The Eugley family would like to express their sincere thanks to the many caregivers at Anderson Inn for their loving and compassionate care.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Mary Lou Eugley of Camden; three children, Gwendolyn A. Kopka and her husband, Richard, of Gloucester, Mass., Alan H. Eugley of Westport, Conn., and Melissa S. Jackson and her husband, Paul, of Stoneham, Mass.; six grandchildren, Allison T. Eugley, Elizabeth T. Eugley, Seth T. Eugley, Nicolina P. Jackson, Paul J. Jackson Jr., and William O. Jackson; his nieces and nephews, Millard Eugley and his wife, Anne, of Lincolnville, Ruth Friend, Frances Emery, and Charles Shunaman. He was predeceased by a sister, Edna L. Shunaman; a brother, Bertrand I. Eugley; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Treadwell.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, April 18, at 1 p.m. at the United Christian Church in Lincolnville with the Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet officiating. A reception will follow the service at Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden.
