ROCKLAND — Janet Ella Davis, widow of the late Gary W. Davis, died April 10, 2017, of natural causes, after a period of declining health. Janet was born in Van Buren on April 8,1934, the daughter of James and Marie Greenier.

She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Van Buren, Class of 1952. She met her future husband, Gary, in Presque Isle, in 1958, and they were married in St. Bruno's of Van Buren in 1960. They moved to Rockland, where Gary started his 30+-year career teaching history and psychology at Rockland High School and Janet became a fastidious homemaker.

She was known for her incredible memory, recalling countless facts and events from decades ago to the present, astounding those around her.

Janet is survived by two sons, Jim Davis and his wife, Laurie Long, of Johns Island, S.C., and their daughter, Sarah Stacki of North Carolina, and Steve Davis and his wife, Karen Rizkalla, of Rockland, and their daughters, Emily and Molly Davis. Janet was always proud of her granddaughters. Janet is also survived by her sisters, Lorraine Dumas and Lucille Pelletier of Madawaska; her brother, Russ Greenier of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and their extended family in Colorado and Florida.

After taking care of her large home for many years, Janet was happy to spend the last eight years at her lovely independent living apartment at Quarry Hill in Camden. Janet created many new friendships and fond memories while at Quarry Hill. She enjoyed the social evenings at dinner and the holiday brunch and birthday events. After years of caring for her home, she finally chose to have some fun!

Memorial Services will be planned for the future.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter and Hutchins Funeral Home.
