BELFAST - The beloved and adored Jane Patten peacefully passed away July 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with Central Nervous System Lymphoma. Jane was born on October 21, 1942, in Newton MA to Evelyn Bonin and Herbert McKinney. Jane later moved to Maine to marry her husband, Roger Patten, of Lincolnville, on July 3, 1960.

Jane was a baker and cake decorator at Weavers Bakery of Belfast for 30 years. After leaving the bakery, Jane decided to follow her dreams and opened three greenhouses in Northport; she called her business, "Jane's Greenhouse."

Jane continued horticulture throughout the rest of her life, as well as cooking. Jane loved to host and prepare meals for her family and friends. Jane was a caregiver and nurturer to all the lives she touched; she often used humor to fill her loved one's lives with joy.

Jane was survived by her loving brothers John McKinney of Pembroke Mass., and Herbert McKinney of Deerfield, N.H. and their families; her children Scott Patten and his wife Lynn, of Belfast, and Beth Patten, of Belfast. Jane adored her grandchildren, Sarah Patten, of Portland,  and Ian and Peter Patten, of Belfast. Jane was especially proud of her great-granddaughter and namesake, Katelyn Jane. Jane is also survived by her dearest friend Bina of Belfast.

There will be a service August 12, 2017 at St. Francis Church of Belfast at 1 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow; all are welcome.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.ripostafh.com.
