CAMDEN – The Five Town Football Junior Varsity and Varsity reversed course from last season's troubles to hold on and win two tightly contested football games today at the Camden Snow Bowl.

First, the JV Jammers, behind 14-12 at the half, tightened their defensive straps and held on to defeat the JV Panthers, 19-14.  The Jammers were lead by veterans J.T. Johndro, Owen McManus and Will Haslam each of whom scored touchdowns. The Jammer defense was thrown off-balance by a spark plug sweeping Medomak offense early, but gained their footing and were frequently in the backfield in the second half.

In the nightcap, the Varsity Jammers and Panthers exchanged TD runs on each of their opening drives, however, the Jammers converted their extra point to make it 7-6.  Each team scored another TD to make it 14-13 Jammers at the half.

Both Jammer touchdowns were by Caleb Sabanty, including a long kickoff return. A tenuous third quarter gave the fans in attendance some concern following three straight procedural penalties by the Jammers. But they got the ball back on a fumble recovery and punched in a late third quarter touchdown by Cas Lavoie. The extra point was converted by Ryan Clifford to make it 21-13.

The Jammers next date is with the Rockland Black Tigers at Oceanside Middle School on Saturday, September 5. The doubleheader kicks off at 11 a.m.
