CLARK ISLAND – James A. Myers Sr., 62, died unexpectedly Feb. 26, 2015, at his home.

Born in Rockland on Jan. 31, 1953, he was the son of Robert J. and Marion A. Adams Myers. Raised in Rockland, Jimmy attended local schools and was a 1971 graduate of Rockland District High School. For a brief period during his youth, he lived in Camden.

On Oct. 13, 1973, he married the love of his life, Rosemary E. Allen of Rockland. They made their first home in Massachusetts. In 1974 they moved to their home here, where they have since resided and raised their family.

Jimmy spent his early years as a commercial fisherman for nearly 20 years, fishing primarily out of New Bedford, Mass. His love for the sea was only second to his love for family.

For more than 22 years, he was an active member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Rockland Lodge No. 1008. Always ready to help in any way he could, he volunteered many hours with the Elks and served as Exalted Ruler in 2001.

He was a 17-year member of the Sons of the American Legion, Winslow-Holbrook-Merritt Post No. 1 in Rockland.

Jimmy is remembered by his family as a devoted father and husband who could light up any room he walked into. He had the admirable ability to make people laugh, even during difficult times. He loved camping, boating and fishing, particularly for mackerel and stripers. Being on the water was one of his true passions. He enjoyed football, baseball and was accomplished at drawing. In more recent years, Jimmy had acquired an affinity for gaming and spending quality time with his love, Rosemary, at their home.

He loved the companionship of his St. Bernard, Cooper, who will surely miss his master.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Ronnie and Kenny; and two sisters, Helen and Sandra. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; three sons, James A. Myers Jr., and his wife, Teresa, of Williamsburg, Va., Jason J. Myers and his wife, Amy, of St. George, and Michael S. Myers of Tenants Harbor; one daughter, Christina Tibbetts and her husband, Matthew, of Camden; a brother, Robert Myers and his wife, Ruthie, of Appleton; 10 grandchildren, James Myers III, Kaleb, and Dakoda Myers, Evan, Audrey and Lydia Myers, Alaina and Olivia Myers, and Lyla and Lucas Tibbetts, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held Sunday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at the Rockland Lodge of Elks, 210 Rankin St. The Brothers of the Rockland Lodge of Elks will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
