WALDO — James E. “Chip” Doak jr., 55, of Waldo, passed away Nov. 14, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born in Belfast on Sept. 2, 1960, the son of James E. and Dora (Clifford) Doak of Waldo.

Chip was a 1978 graduate of Mt. View High School in Thorndike. He was a very talented carpenter, but his greatest joy was working in the woods as a logger. He also enjoyed the company of his dog, Sadie.

Chip was predeceased by his father in 1998. He is survived by his loving mother of Waldo; two daughters and four grandchildren, Amy Lee Doak of Bangor and her son, Dakota, and Jessica Anne Doak of Waldo and her children, Aiden, Stefan and Elena; one brother, David Doak and his wife, Bernys, of Monroe; three sisters, Rebecca Piel and her husband, Thomas, of Belfast, Camilla Doak of Bangor and Susan Smith and her husband, Keryn, of Surry; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Chip was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. We will all miss his quick wit and ability to make us laugh, as well as his kind heart.

At Chip's request, there will be no formal service.

Please join us for an open house in celebration of his life at the family farm in Waldo on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.
