Belfast — An Illinois man was arrested following a Tuesday evening crash on Route 3, near the Belmont/Morrill town line, according to the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Depty Kevin Littlefield responded to the report of a single-car crash where the vehicle was found resting upside down in a ditch.

Further investigation revealed that Theodore Kekstadt, 44, of Wheeling, Ill., was operating the 2011 Hyundai when he and his passenger engaged in “some sort of dispute,” just before the accident, according to a press release from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Both occupants were assisted from the vehicle by bystanders before deputies arrived on scene, according to Lieutenant Jason Trundy, who said there were no significant injuries reported from the crash.

Kekstadt was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and transported to Waldo County Jail.
