Howard S. Leino, obituary

OWLS HEAD — Howard S. "Yogi" Leino, 65, died July 23, 2016, at the Sussman House in Rockport. He was born Jan. 16, 1951, in Quincy, Mass., to Edward J. Leino and Mildred Tierila Leino.

Howard attended Warren grade schools, Rockland Junior High School and graduated from Rockland High School in the Class of 1970.

Howard served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1975. He worked as boilermaker and foreman for several companies, including South Bay Boiler, National City Company, San Diego Gas and Electric from 1975 to 2015. He also worked as a power plant operator and trainee.

Howard's artistic creativity was vast and included metal sculpture, jewelry making, painting, arms manufacturing, distilled spirits and cannon making.

He is survived by a sister, Alexandra Perry-Weiss and her husband, Erick, of Bristol; his brother, George Leino of Friendship; his nephews, James Perry and his wife, Karen, of Bath, Jody Perry and his wife, Linda, of Waldoboro; his niece, Jennifer Andrews and her husband, Tim, of Nobleboro; and seven great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister-in- law, Brenda Leino.

A graveside service to celebrate Howard's life will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Warren. Should friends desire, contributions in Howard's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1 Bowdoin Mill Road, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
