BELFAST — How Waldo County Government Works is now available for public viewing. 

Shortly after being elected Commissioner, Betty Johnson discussed the need for transparency in county government, and also the need to educate citizens of how county government works.

Originally, Johnson had the goal of producing the film on her own. Josh Gerritsen, a Lincolnville citizen who met Johnson two years ago, learned of this project and expressed his desire to assist in the film’s production.

The idea was to expand local fifth graders’ knowledge of county government by through the use of film.

Following production, Johnson and others determined that this film should be seen on a broader scope because it puts a face on each department, and its thorough explanation of how the county functions.
