BELFAST — Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County is holding an Award Ceremony and Reception for its Juried Art Show Saturday, Aug. 16, 6:30 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library.

At the event, there will be an Invitational Pop-Up Gallery in the Abbott Room featuring accomplished, award-winning artists from the Waldo County area. Artists include Daniel Anselmi, Kenny Cole, Kerstin Engman, Eric Leppanen, Richard Mann, Abbie Read, Alison Rector, Willy Reddick, and many more.

The jurors making the selection were artist David Estey, sculptor Kimberly Callas and photographer Kevin Johnson. Eighty pieces of art work were submitted.

"One of the main reasons I paint is because I've seen first hand the power and beauty of Hospice Care, I'm genuinely thrilled and humbled to be a part of this event," said Andrew Speed, from Gorham, one of the artists selected.

"It's great to hear my work was chosen for the show. I'm looking forward to the event and excited to help out the Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County", stated Caitlyn Mello of Jackson.

Internationally renowned artist Harold Garde will be an honored guest. The Barbara Kramer Gallery was named for his late wife, who received hospice care. Kristin Burkholder will be the MC and musician Clayton Clementson will perform his original compositions.

All the art work will be for sale, with fifty percent of the proceeds going to Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County.

The artist reception and award ceremony is free and open to the public. Delicious food and libations are generously provided by La Vida, The Front Street Pub, and Delvinos.

This event is sponsored by Camden National Bank, Front Street Ship Yard, Robbins Lumber and EBS Building Supplies. Our media sponsor is BelfastCreativeCoalition.org.
