WINTERPORT — Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Jones was called to Winterport early in the morning on Jan. 30, after Waldo County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting an assault at a School Street residence.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the complainant claimed that someone had broken into his residence, and he was awoken to a male subject allegedly punching him several times in the head with brass knuckles.

Jones conducted interviews with the victim and his girlfriend, who was also present during the assault, and the suspect was allegedly identified as 31-year-old Theodore Mcleod III of Hermon. According to the Sheriff’s office, Mcleod is the ex-boyfriend of the female who was at the residence with the victim.

The victim was treated on scene by a crew with Winterport Ambulance.

Jones made contact with the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office, which located Mcleod at his residence. Mcleod was taken into custody and charged with aggravated criminal trespass, Class C and aggravated criminal mischief, Class C. Mcleod was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center, where he was later released on $1,000 cash bail.
