LIBERTY — Harriet Sarah Feeney Oxton, 85, of Liberty, died peacefully on April 5, 2016, with loving family at her side.

She was born on Aug. 18, 1930, to John Joseph Feeney and Margaret Sears Feeney in Natick, Mass. She went on to live most of her life in Montville and Liberty.

Harriet worked many years in retail locations, including Grants, Kilroys and JC Penney. She loved working and talking with the public. She also enjoyed listening to Irish music and singing loud in church. The thing she loved most in life was to spend time with friends and family, with a special fondness for the children in her life. She will be remembered as a giving, loving friend, a wonderful mother, and a generous grandmother and great-grandmother.

Harriet was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Linwood Oxton; her sisters, Rita Clark and Esther Maliske; and her brother John Feeney. She is survived by her children, David Oxton and his wife, Christine Solomon, of Gardiner, Diane Whitmore and her husband, Dale, of Freeport, and Darlene Oxton and her husband, Wesley Alexander, of Glover, Vt. She is also survived by her grandchildren, David Oxton and his wife, Derri, Brandon Oxton, Sean Oxton and his wife, Beth, James A. Whitmore, Billy and Christopher Weiss, and Wayne, Cole and Heather Alexander; and by her great-grandchildren, Keegan, Landon, Aden and Aaron Weiss, Kiana and Anastasia Oxton, Matthew Oxton, Ava Oxton and Elizabeth Miller-Grant.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at Grove's Cemetery.
