CAMDEN — Harold "Tete De" Clark Clossey Jr., 72, passed away Oct. 10, 2012, at Pen Bay Medical Center. Born in Newport, N.H. April 18, 1940, he was the son of Harold C. and Lorena (Goodeill) and grew up in Eastport.

As a young person, Harold developed a love of the ocean and enjoyed navigating the waters of Passamaquoddy Bay in rowboats and dories, fishing from hand lines catching cod, pollock and haddock. He was a 1960 graduate of Shead Memorial High School in Eastport.

From 1961 to 1965, he very proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, was stationed in Rockland, and spent time on Burnt Island, Matinicus Rock and in Greenland. On Oct. 27, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Judith A. Gardiner, in Eastport. After his discharge from the Coast Guard, Harold worked several years for Henry Bohndell in Rockport, where he learned the skill of making sails and rigging, and was employed for the Camden Police Department as a patrol officer. For 33 years, he owned and operated Maine Sail, located on Cobb Road in Camden, designing and making sails, rigging and canvas products throughout the Midcoast. He retired in 2005.

He was a member of the John Street United Methodist Church in Camden.

Harold's hobbies included writing poetry, hunting, snowmobiling, and boating and fishing on fresh and salt water. He was very devoted to his loving family and loved spending time with them. He also loved spending time with his family and friends at the cottage on Schoodic Lake.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 50 years, Judith Clossey of Camden; two children, Wanda Clossey of Mason, Ohio, and Jeffrey Clossey and his wife, Christine, and their children, Courtney and Katharine, all of Camden; two sisters, Barbara Galen of Veazie and Peggy Boone and her husband, Ronald, of Brewer; two brothers, Robert Clossey of Bangor and David Clossey and his wife, Cheryl, of Calais; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Gardiner and his wife, Carolyn, of Freeport; many nieces and nephews; and his loyal canine companion, Casey. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell Clossey; and his sister, Bonnie Christie.

The funeral was held Saturday, Oct. 13 at the John Street United Methodist Church in Camden, followed by burial at the Mountain View Cemetery.
