THOMASTON — The Oceanside Blue girls eighth grade basketball team hosted Camden-Rockport Middle School Friday afternoon at Oceanside West handing the visitors a 62-29 loss.

Kalli Grover was on fire for the Mariners scoring 29 points to lead the Mariners to the win.

Grover also dominated on the defensive boards with numerous rebounds easily posting a double-double in the game.

Oceanside led the entire game as the Schooners were no match for the Mariners.

The Mariners took a 15-4 first quarter lead and increased it to 33-17 half time advantage. By the end of the third quarter the Mariners were up 44-21 before cruising to the win in the fourth quarter.

Scoring for the Mariners were, Grover with 29 points; Kassidy Robinson eight; Annaleise Poisson seven; Rachel Joyce six; Hope Butler and Philomena Marsh five each; and Chloe Fournier two.

The Mariners were 8-of-16 (50 percent) from the foul line.

For Camden-Rockport, Kassie Krul tallied 15 points; Capri Buck six; and Lauren Rothwell and Maddie Holt four each.

The Schooners were 9-of-17 (56 percent) from behind the free throw line.

The Oceanside Blue girls team will be at Boothbay Monday, Nov. 24 at 3:45 p.m. The Schooners of Camden-Rockport girls will be off until Dec. 3 when they host Medomak Middle School.
