OHIO and formerly SOUTH THOMASTON — Gregory L. Bixby, 32, died unexpectedly April 10, 2015, at his home in Ohio.

Born in Lewiston on Jan. 4, 1983, he was the son of Leroy and Christine Bassick Bixby. Moving with his family to South Thomaston when he was just an infant, Greg attended Gilford Butler and Owls Head Central schools. He later graduated from Rockland District High School in 2001. While in high school, Greg was a member of the football team. He loved being outdoors, especially riding his ATV, snowmobile and motorcycle.

Following graduation, Greg began his career with MBNA in Rockland. He was active in the community, and was instrumental in the creation and running of the area teen shelter. His parents said he had a big heart, and was always concerned about teens in the Midcoast.

Beginning a new career with Proctor & Gamble, Greg moved to Ohio, where he was employed as a master technician. He was a hard worker and moved up the ladder quickly.

Greg had a kind heart and caring personality. He was always worried about others above himself, and did his best to put his best smile forward. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Greg is survived by his parents, Leroy and Christine Bixby of Poland; his sister, Connie Bixby; his nephew and niece, Gage and Starsha Robbins, all of South Thomaston; his wife, Lauren Walch Bixby of Ohio; his maternal grandparents, Milton and Yvonne Bassick of Spring Hill, Fla.; his half-brother, Leroy Pepin and his wife, Rachel, of South Carolina; his nephews, Isaac and Eli; two cousins whom Greg thought of as brothers, Doug Bixby and Tim Bixby; and two special friends he loved like brothers, Phil Arsenault of Thomaston and Del Randall of Rockland; as well as many close friends.

A gathering of love and remembrance will be held Tuesday, April 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. Interment will be held at a later date.
