Gillway bests fellow Rep. Brooks in House District 98 race

    Rep. James Gillway (R-Searsport) has won a third term in Maine Legislature, defeating Joe Brooks (U-Winterport) by an unofficial tally of 2,288 to 1,612 for the House District 97 seat.

    Gillway, who is also the Searsport town manager, currently represents seven Waldo and Hancock County town in the state legislature under House District 41. Due to redistricting he was re-elected, and will represent, four towns, all within Waldo County. The redrawn borders incidentally meant Gillway had to beat another incumbent representatives in this election. Brooks currently represents six Waldo County towns in House District 42.

    House of Representatives District 98 includes Frankfort, Searsport, Swanville and Winterport.
