Volunteers needed in Belfast and RSU#3

BELFAST — Thanks to funding from the Lancey Family Fund of the Maine Community Foundation the Game Loft is expanding its Circle of Care program by five boards. The Game Loft is seeking volunteers for its Circles of Care Program in Belfast and in the RSU 3 school district.

The Circles of Care uses a board of directors approach for young people at critical ages in their lives. The board listens to its youthful "president" and is available to give common sense advice about common problems that young people face as they mature.

The ability to listen compassionately is the primary requirement to be a member of a Circle of Care. All volunteers are trained and assisted by a meeting facilitator. Meetings occur twice per month for one hour per meeting and are held at the mutual convenience of the Circle.

Circles of Care are urgently needed in the RSU 3 school district. For more information call Ariel Levangie at The Game Loft, 338-6447 or via email at circlesofcare.thegameloft@gmail.com.

The Game Loft provides an environment where young people are guided to become caring, competent, confident, contributing and connected adults.

The Loft is open Monday for young gamers 12 and under, Tuesday and Thursday, 2 p.m.-6 p.m., Friday 2 p.m.-8:30 p.m. for young people age 18 and under and at Mount View Middle School, Wednesdays, 3 p.m.-5:15 p.m. for youth in grades 3-12.
