Mon, 09/28/2015 - 8:45am

THOMASTON —The Thomaston Public Library is proud to announce that the Fletcher’s Scouting Company, a French and Indian Wars reenactment group will be visiting the library’s grounds on November 7, 2015.For more info on the group visit fletchersscoutingcompany.org

As part of the day the library will hold a community Fair celebrating our town, library, businesses, history and autumn. We are invite local farmers, publishers, and non-profits to participate with booths offering their wares or sponsoring activities that would appeal to community members. The Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For children, possibly face painting, apple dunking, a visit from local animals, pumpkin painting, games played in the 18th century could be offered. Adults will have the opportunity to purchase late garden produce, candles, honey, and baked goods and to learn about local work by non-profits and their membership or volunteer information.

We will host a café area serving hot cider and donuts, butternut squash soup and chowder, pumpkin pies and some authentic recipes from the French and Indian War era. We are hoping to locate a cider press as well.

There will be a limited number of spaces available. Hopefully the weather will behave so the Fair can be held out on the lawn area, near the encampment (though if inclement we will use the gym).  Please join us.

If you would like to celebrate with us or sponsor an event, or know where we can borrow a cider press please call the library at 207-354-2453 or email Diane, headlibrarian@thomaston.lib.me.us, Alex animon@thomaston.lib.me.us, or Joanna childrensdesk@thomaston.lib.me.us.
