ROCKLAND — The fourth annual Alan Baudanza Memorial Golf Tournament takes place Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Rockland Golf Club. Sponsors, donations, and participants are encouraged to honor Baudanza’s memory by funding the educational pursuits of area students.

On Jan. 17, 2011 Alan Baudanza passed away after a long battle with cancer. Soon after his passing, family and friends formed a memorial to raise money for scholarships in his memory. The committee came up with the idea of having a golf tournament, mainly because of Alan’s love for golf. Alan had a tender spot in his heart for the young, especially athletes.

Local businesses sponsored holes, their business logos displayed on the golf green, and donated items were bid upon through silent auction. The proceeds from the Alan Baudanza Memorial golf tournament allowed for fifteen $1,000 scholarships for deserving graduates and post graduates of Oceanside East.

Organizers are awestruck by the kindness and generosity of the local businesses, friends and family, and are proud to be able to contribute to future leaders. Shepherd motors has donated a car for a hole-in-one and many items have been received for a silent auction.
