BELFAST — A four vehicle crash on Route 3 that occurred Nov. 15 left two people injured, according to Sergeant Daniel Fitzpatrick, of the Belfast Police Department.

The accident took place in between the Belfast Curling Club and Jesse Robbins Road, around 2:20 p.m.

A 2008 Ford pickup truck traveling east on Route 3 rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet that was stopped for a flagger. The impact pushed the Chevrolet, driven by Anne Mahle, 50, of Rockland, into a 2017 Ford in front of it, which was also stopped for the flagger. Mahle’s vehicle then continued into the westbound lane, where it collided with an oncoming 2002 Cadillac.

Each of the four vehicles held a single passenger, with two drivers injured in the crash.

The driver of the Ford pickup truck, Stephen B. Paige, 66, of Swanville, was uninjured in the crash and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Mahle complained of back pain at the scene and was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She has since been released.

The operator of the 2017 Ford, John C. Kershner, 54, of Penacook, N.H., was uninjured in the crash and his vehicle sustained minor damage.

The driver of the Cadillac, Marvin Jacobs, 76, of Belmont, sustained bruises and abrasions to the face as a result of the crash. Jacobs was also transported to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment via ambulance and has since been released. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
