Oct. 19, at the Strand

Floor it for this Rockland District Nursing fundraiser

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 3:00pm

The Rockland District Nursing Association and the Strand Theatre present American Graffiti, Thursday, October 19, at 7 p.m. Donations will be accepted at the door. The suggested donation is $10.

This Academy Award-nominated classic, voted one of the American Film Institute's top 100 Films Of All Time, features the coming of age of four teenagers on their last summer night before college. Rediscover drag racing, Inspiration Point and drive-ins in this nostalgic look back at the early 1960s. The incredible soundtrack brings you the most memorable rock 'n' roll hits of the era. Directed by George Lucas and produced by Francis Ford Coppola, this classic stars Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Suzanne Somers, Cindy Williams, Wolfman Jack and Mackenzie Phillips.

Due to the support of the First Advisors, all proceeds will go to RDNA, helping to provide non-acute, in-home nursing and community health services.

RDNA annually visits more than 200 residents, predominantly seniors, living independently in Rockland, Thomaston, South Thomaston, Owls Head, St. George, Cushing, Union and Warren.

Only through the generosity of this community has RDNA, for 88 years, continuously been able to focus on serving residents who otherwise may not have access to care.

Prior to the screening, have your photo taken with a vintage 1956 T-Bird courtesy of Toby Stinson. The car will be in front of the Strand from 3 to 7pm. Dust off your poodle skirt, comb back your ducktail, and enjoy a root beer float and dilly bar at the evening's soda fountain. 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold the night of the event. The winner will be drawn before the movie begins, and must be in attendance.
